Nkumba University students are holding a bloode strike. The aggrieved students are pelting stones at the police trucks, and hurling all sorts of insults at their Vice Chancellor.
The students are striking because of fees increment. For example, a retake which has been at 50,000 is now at 200,000 and a missed paper that cost 20,000 is now at 100,000/=. “We have been denied to do tests because of late payment. This is unacceptable. This is our university,” shouts an outraged student.
More police personnel are being deployed at the Entebbe based campus to calm down the rowdy students. Many students have been arrested and bundled at on the police patrol vehicle. By the look of things, students are not ready to give up till the administrtation dissolves the increased fees.
