The Minister of Education and First Lady Janet Museveni Kataha has cancelled the Uganda Christian University (UCU) examinations that were supposed to take place on Monday.
This was during her address to the nation address today on events concerning the future of the education system in this lockdown. The Minister in her statement today pointed out issues of students lacking money and facilities to access the online examinations that students are being asked to undertake.
“All examinations are to be suspended until the end of the crisis” She said.
The student body also hadn’t rested on the issue as the third year law students led a hashtag on social media earlier this week complaining about the exams and giving their reasons for unfairness of the system because not all students are able to access internet from their homes.
There was also an issue of outstanding tuition balance where the students with such issues wouldn’t be have their work marked even if it was submitted.
However the fourth year students are displeased with the outcome and are blaming third year students for bringing this to the attention of higher authorities because they just wanted to get over with the whole semester.
All universities are to resume on 2nd May 2020 given that all factors remain constant and the epidemic is kept under control.
