After a protracted four-months battle, Ssemboga Roy has been declared as the 2016/2017 Guild President of the Makerere University Students Guild Elections after trouncing his closest challenger Bazil Mwotta following the re-elections held at the School of Education today.
At the re-election, which many of Mwotta’s supporters shunned, Mwotta and Roy tied on 26 votes at the first polling station and 14-9 votes at the second polling station.
This however wasn’t enough for Mwotta as Roy was already ahead of him with a 1300-strong vote margin in the run-up to the re-election.
