Shock and grief have gripped Uganda Christian University (UCU) after news broke that Namirembe Angel, a law student, has died following a motor accident.
Details about the crash remain scarce, but initial reports from fellow students and close friends indicate that Namirembe was involved in a fatal road accident earlier today.
On social media, tributes are pouring in from the UCU community and beyond.
“Comrades, it’s with cold feet that we announce the untimely death of comrade @NamirembeAngel6. Kitalo nyo banange. She was involved in a motor accident,” tweeted Kateregga Julius (@Katereggakj), a student leader.
Another student, Kiiza Eron (@kiizaeron), expressed disbelief, writing:
“Was she sick? Oh no! This is so sad. A young leader beaming with ideas and energy. Oh no! @NamirembeAngel6, God be with you in that new unknown sphere.”
The university community is said to be in mourning as students and staff struggle to come to terms with the tragic loss of a bright, promising young woman known for her leadership and passion for justice.
UCU officials are yet to issue an official statement on the incident, but sources within the guild leadership say a condolence message and further details will be shared soon.
