Many guild aspirants were left yesterday stranded in front of the guild offices awaiting the commencement of the vetting process.
However, there was no activity as there were rumors circulating that the process has been halted citing corruption inside the electoral commission government. This has gone on up to today with a similar turn of events and no activity.
An official announcement was made today during the Tuesday community worship where it was declared that a new electoral commission would be put in place. It was also announced that the entire election process would be started afresh.
A new cabinet was appointed to oversee the electoral process.
The guild aspirants are to pick nomination forms and start the entire process all over again. This includes gathering the number of signatures required to qualify them for the nomination.
“The process is going to be very difficult for us this time,” commented one of the aspirants as a few other adjustments have been made regarding the collecting of signatures for nomination.
The former electoral commission is being accused of unethical conduct, and abuse of office. It is said that the electoral commission officials are receiving and asking for bribes from the aspirants faulting the entire election process.
A point in concern is that a document showing the students that would qualify for the vetting process has a number of posts in the race that with unopposed contestants, confirming the allegations that the system has been flawed.
It is uncertain what awaits the replaced officials as no statement has been made in that regard. It is probable many will be facing disciplinary action.
