Uganda Christian University [UCU], Mukono students are currently demonstrating against the 15% tuition increment. They have gathered at the Vice Chancellor’s office although he (John Musisi Senyonyi) hasn’t come out to address them. Police has been deployed at halls of residence and they are also in the dinning area. “These bu Kayihura boys (police) are busy eating our food,” one student is heard lamenting.
Just a day after the Law students of UCU completed their end of semester exams, they were hit by the news of increase in tuition to a whooping 4 Million Ugandan Shillings per semester.
The 15% tuition increment that was totally unexpected has hit the students too hard that some of them turned to shedding tears for their parents.
This means that students will be paying over 4 million shillings. The students have decided to converge at Nkoyoyo hall at 2pm for a ‘massive’ strike.
