Uganda Christian University has taken to the polls and voted a new guild president.
Amanya Bruce Mugisha, an engineering student beat his counterparts of the Law Faculty contestant, Joshua Wanambwa and the education aspirant, Charlotte Mbabazi to the polls.
Amanya the winner gunnered 1000 votes, while the second managed to get 874, Charlotte totalled 159 and 88 invalid votes that implies 2121 total votes cast.
The results were tallied by the University Electoral Commission at the University’s Nkoyoyo hall where the students counted in unison the day’s votes.
The returning officer, Ayebazibwe Edgar who also doubles as the University Guild Speaker announced the winners and the runners up in their respective capacities.
It shall be remembered that the competition was tight and that the voter turn up was on a whole other level this year around since the lawyers were also represented. It was a battle of faculty and political muscle.
The new boss is set to ascend to his throne in a handover ceremony scheduled for this month that will usher in a new government.
