IUIU and the surrounding community today morning felt like thought about citizens of this country as they had made a song which was demanding from UNRA to erect humps. Well today they got to see that happen as humps were erected around the IUIU trading centre (Namakwekwe).
In a recent interview with the Guild President Ismael Nandala at IUIU, he told this website that his efforts had hit dead ends but was trying all possible ways to make ends meet in the erection of these humps along the Mbale-Soroti highway which happens to be just a few legs from the University gate.
This campaign started after multiple students got into accidents on this busy highway, the latest victim being a one Hafsa Nambooze a few weeks back, letters were written to the respective authorities UNRA inclusive but no reply had been received, students also had planned a peaceful demonstration about this issue which the University administration rejected on grounds of keeping a clean sheet in discipline.
As of today from around 11am, Crossing from the University to the trading center across hasn’t been a hustle as it had been on the usual, as one had to wait minutes to cross due to the speedy traffic.
