Many a time, a lot of graduates whine and complain about unemployment yet they could do something somewhere to free themselves from the pain of scrimmaging for the very few and competitive jobs available. Two Kyambogo University finalists pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance have decided not to follow suit when they finally get done with their studies this year.
Ankunda Daphne Beine and her best friend Amy Kirungi started baking two years ago and now run Amy cakes and confectioneries. The two Best Friends Forever (BFF’s) still bake from home and hope to turn their campus hustle into a fully functional confectionery after they are done with campus. They bake all kinds of cakes and pastries and their cakes start at a paltry Shs 60,000.
Ankunda Daphne Beine who also commands a very big following on twitter as Lil’ booty credits her best friend Amy who introduced her to baking for all they’ve been able to achieve together. She dreams of being an independent woman, traveling the world and being able to shop without peeping at the price tag.
It is always the song at graduation that go out there and be job creators instead of seekers, these Kyambogo girls will be laughing when they say the same on their graduation because they didn’t wait to be told.
The pair make cake deliveries too and Daphne can be reached on twitter @dbinea.
