As many other Youth are struggling looking for quick money by settling for blue collar jobs as opposed to doing anything that pays the bills, JWats [Watsaba Jude] is using his music as a stepping stone for greatness and success.
Watsaba Jude [21] is a student of Social Sciences at Makerere University. At his age, he has been able to release a number of songs that you might get a chance to listen to in the bars- His music is lit for real.
We had a chance to meet this rising star and we posed a few questions to him;
What inspired you to sing and what Genre do you major in?
“Music has always been my passion ever since childhood, it’s something I’ve always done best. So, I decided to take it on as my career just as I sought to complete school. About the genre I major in, I am versatile, I basically do urban music- Happy music.”
What do you think should be changed about the Ugandan music industry?
Well, I think the production should change a little bit, many artists sound the same especially the new artists. They should focus on coming up with a different style that will brand them hence creating a variety of sound that can also compete on the international market.
Who are your Ugandan role models?
I look up to Legends like Maddox Ssematimba, GNL Zamba, and others although those two are exceptional.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 Years, I see myself doing World Tours, scooping some International and local Awards, having Big Endorsements with The Best Brands in the World, and many other things in that line.
Motivated, inspired and ready to conquer, Watsaba also known as JWats is determined to take it all and get up the ladder of success. He encouraged young people to always stand in the line of fire as opposed to standing in the comfort zone.
