We have our own that have risen up to the challenge and have joined in on the race to parliament come 2016. These include students at Campus, those that have successfully completed campus and the youth at large that are ready to eradicate the ‘monotony of the old leadership’ like they it’s commonly refer to it.
Campusbee will be brings a profile of each of these individuals and their journey to being the leader that tomorrow will be glad to have or regret to have. Fact files, credentials and concrete insight to whatever is being planned by these youth leaders that are taking on the challenge will be covered diligently.
Today, we traverse the streets of Mukono all the way to arguably one of Uganda’s finest university at producing lawyers, Uganda Christian University, to fish out a one Ssekandi Gonzagga Kironde.
Ssekandi Gonzagga Kironde, born 24years ago is a lawyer by profession who recently, in July, graduated at UCU with a Bachelor of Laws and now awaits to seat for his pre-entries at the LDC. He is vying for the hot seat of Central Youth Member of Parliament come 2016 and he’s contesting on the NRM ticket.
However, Kironde is quick to tell Campusbee that it’s not all about the party but the individual and leader in him. “Many people today believe that the party you’re in reflects what you can do; however that is not the case. The ideologies of individuals don’t reflect on the party but purely the individual and I believe I got what it takes to drive the youth and Ugandans at large to a perfect destination.” echoed a confident Ssekandi.
Kironde an eloquent and courageous speaker born and raised in the hills of Ssembabule believes now is the time to change the old and tired political atmosphere and be taken over by the youth that have lucrative and innovative ideas to project the country further.
This gentleman is not new to leadership and has got credible accruals in that field. He is the president and founder of Uganda Christian University Class Fund Initiative, a fund he started in 2011 with his own resources after seeing his close friend drop out of University because of failure to raise 20,000shs tuition balance. Today, the fund that helps students who have got issues with tuition has seen over 15 students graduate and over 100 students on the journey to university completion.
Since 2014, Ssekandi has been Presidential Advisor on student affairs in the Arthur Government at UCU and continues to lead other organizations that empower the youth today. As an innovative thinker and effective listener, Gonzaga refused to come to terms with the fact that other students can drop out of school due to lack of tuition.
As he eyes the Central Youth MP seat come the 2016 polls, Gonzagga believes that for the central region to be successful, the youth have to be successful. “That time for discussing problems is over; it is time to discuss solutions an energetic, ambitious individual who has developed a mature and responsible approach to any tasks undertaken,” he says. The power to vote the right leader lies in your hands, vote wisely and precautiously.
