Campusers Increasingly Blocking Their Parents on WhatsApp, Here’s Why

It is with no doubt that WhatsApp is the most popular messaging app amongst Campusers for the fact that it works just fine even in weak internet network conditions, as is often the case in many parts of the country.

And seems that isn’t enough, the ability to mute, exclude status audiences and above all blocking contacts and undoing so with ease and at any moment makes the whole experience ‘comfortable’ for the young lads.

“My mother spends her entire morning on WhatsApp,” 21-year-old Rachael, whose use of the app is significant, told me.

“Throughout the entire time while she’s having her breakfast, she’s checking people’s status updates and watching videos, which makes me think twice about letting her checking my statuses as well” she added.

Parents can be a big choke-a-block on WhatsApp. From asking why you slept late in the night to why you’re posting obscene memes and finally who’s that girl/boy you posted. So here’s why campusers prefer to avoid all that, by simply blocking and muting their parents;

Being nosy

Parents are always using every chance to jump into your inbox to ask as much as they can, regarding your profile photo, status or bio and anything that comes to their attention.

Sending boring messages

Sincerely, some messages deserve nothing more than just blueticks. Parents frequently send very dull messages which range from health tips to Bible verses. For crying out loud , that’s content you could just google and find in a click. I understand to many parents, the ability to broadcast ready-made messages is like a superpower.

Last Seen, Last Seen, Last Seen

This is one feature, most people prefer to disable to a limited number of people. But as well, find it comfortable to the rest of the contacts because they ‘don’t mind’ showing their entire activity. It is at this point campusers block their parents to limit the last seen display.

“You’re being disrespectful”

Most parents think they know it all, and everything they say is accurate and final. So for a case where their son/daughter objects or corrects them, automatically erupts a feud and they term it as ‘disrespect.’
