Good grades are not always synonymous with getting the job of your dreams. Majority of the youth in Uganda can identify with this given the high youth unemployment rate which is often described as a ticking bomb, which stands at 64 per cent according to the Uganda Bureau of statistics report 2012.
Against this background, Monitor Publications is holding a half day Career Guidance Fair as part of its CSR activities on Friday October 31, to help youth enhance their competence in the limited job market as well as attain entrepreneurship prowess.
The fair will take place at Kyambogo University Main Campus Hall , West end from 2- 5pm under the theme University and Beyond: Tackling the challenges of unemployment.
Some of the speakers expected at the event are Kyambogo Vice Chancellor, Professor Elly Katunguka, Human resource experts like Monitor Publication’s Moses Ssesanga & Serena Kampala Hotel’s Jude Tusiime, motivational speaker Ethan Musolini, education consultant Fagil Mandy, Delight Supplies MD Julian Omalla.
Among the topics to be discussed are; Looking beyond formal employment, Grooming yourself to be a potential valuable employee, Excelling at a job interview, Making the most of your time at university, The power of networking among others. Participants will also have a chance to win prices from a raffle and internship opportunities with the different partners.
