Overly known NBS TV investigative Journalist and News Anchor Canary Mugume did not hold back his dismay towards Makerere University.
The Next media gem shared with social media his disappointment in Uganda’s top university after an undesirable experience his friend got from Nawangwe’s fortress.
“A friend has never graduated since 2015 because @Makerere lost her marks, she re-did the papers, and they lost her marks (again). Last time she went there, they asked her to pay 1M per paper so she skips the exams and she’s entered in the system automatically for grad,” Canary exposed.
Allegedly, this according to Canary is proof of incompetence since a lot of opportunities and resources are lost in the event one fails to account for their time at school. It is on such a background that the NBS journalist advised his sibling not to continue her pursuit for a place at Makerere University.
“That’s the same day I canceled my young sister’s application to Makerere. I don’t think she should face this suffering. I don’t want her dreams shuttered. So yes. Center of incompetence,” he added.
Makerere University has in previous years come under strong criticism over marks scandals (missing or unfair grading), sexual harassment, tuition drama and many more bumps that have scared away some scholars.
However, many a time, the university is unable to take in everyone due to stiff competition and the subsequent rejects hide in the cover of “Makerere is losing it” yet they could not make the cut.
