In an award ceremony presided over by H.E Massimiliano Mazzanti, the Ambassador of Italy to Uganda, NBS TV journalist Canary Mugume was the youngest journalist among the 20 who were awarded and named Uganda’s most influential and admired media personalities of 2021.
The award ceremony, which went down on 31st March 2021 was aimed at appreciating top media personalities who were reportedly recognised by public opinion for commitment to attainment of Uganda vision 2040 and the United Nations sustainable development goals.
Among other journalists that scooped awards include; NBS’ Sheila Nduhukire, NTV’s Andrew Kyamagero, NBS’ Solomon Sserwanja, among others.
Born on January 7, 1995, Mugume is a renown investigative journalist whose reporting is specialized in current affairs, dysfunctions of the economy, and social matters.
Mugume applied to study from Makerere University but he was never admitted. He was later offered a scholarship at International University of East Africa where pursued Information Technology and Computer Engineering.
