Two Rwandese nationals’ only identified by Mary and Nyirakmanutsi received a panging though rather distinctively unique welcoming vestige on Saturday as the double room they were renting was swept clean by merciless thugs. On Saturday night as these two freshers at Cavendish University played hide and seek in slumber land (sleeping), the least of their minds did they know night walkers had paid them a visit.
“Them all clad in dark clothes and head socks, we were ordered to rest on our bellies, heads shoved into our pillows and stay still if we dearly treasured our lives.” Mary gives an account of what transpired.
Property robbed of these two freshers included; television set, DVD player, charcoal stove, toilet paper not leaving out a whole suitcase full of their adorable fancy clothes only leaving them with the royal foam mattresses they lay on and the ka torch phone that lay hidden away from the thugs preying eyes. The pair of pliers found by the doorstep the next day is believed to have been used to break open the girl’s door the previous night. These freshers are still startled as to why these thugs only took interest in robbing them only and only picking slippers from their neighbour’s room.
To Mary and Nyirakmanutsi this ordeal has only left excruciating moments as they have no money because their ATM cards where too inclusive of the stolen property, no airtime to call home for they only do expect a visit from their relatives around early next month and all they have right now is a basketful of Irish potatoes and a 10kg bag of posho.
