Cavendish University Uganda sent off 985 students into the world of work and leadership during its 14th Graduation Ceremony, held on 21st August 2025 at the Speke Resort Convention Centre, Munyonyo.
The colourful event, themed “Empowering Futures: Cultivating Leaders for a Global Tomorrow,” was graced by dignitaries, parents, sponsors, and partners, with former Nigerian President H.E. Goodluck Jonathan, also the University Chancellor, presiding over proceedings.

In his keynote address, Mr. Bernard Paul Mono, the Acting Director General of the East Africa Development Bank, challenged graduates to leverage their skills to transform communities.
“Stay informed, remain resilient to overcome challenges, and give value to the community. The best days are ahead of you,” he told the Class of 2025.
The Chancellor, H.E. Jonathan, in his moving speech, described education as the “compass to a brighter tomorrow,” urging graduates to lead with both integrity and compassion.

“Go forth and be the progress the world so desperately needs. Lead not just with your minds, but with hearts. The future is yours to shape,” he said, drawing thunderous applause from the graduates and their families.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Olive Sabiiti called on the fresh alumni to embrace entrepreneurship and ethical leadership, highlighting knowledge, competence, relationships, and reputation as the building blocks for lasting impact.
The day also saw outstanding students recognized for their academic excellence and resilience:
- Duku Robert Kenyi (Science & Technology) received UGX 1 million from Tanya Innovation Africa.

For Duku Robert Kenyi, the moment was especially emotional. Speaking after the ceremony, he recounted his journey from working in a cleaning company in 2020 to standing on stage as an award-winning IT graduate.
“This award proves that hard work and determination truly pay off. Cavendish gave me the chance through scholarships, and now I’m ready to pursue a Master’s degree here,” he said.
