While speaking to the congregation at Clarke International University’s 12th graduation ceremony on Saturday, Rwot Omio Sisto, 23, a fresh graduate of the mentioned institution thanked roadside food sellers for contributing towards his success.
According to Sisto, the chapati sellers deserve recognition for not hiking their prices even when the price of soap has gone up
“I want to thank the roadside sellers of food because I know students survive on those foods. I want to thank the chapati sellers because for the years I have been in university, the price of soap increased but chapati is 500 shillings.” Sisto said.
Sisto, who graduated with a diploma in Clinical Medicine and Community Health revealed that graduation didn’t come easy for some students like him. He noted that some students who pay their own tuition, travel long distances for studies had a thousand reasons to celebrate this milestone.
He also recognized the hustle parents go through to pay their children’s tuition while delivering his heartfelt speech.
“When I see graduands without having morale I wonder yet they are supposed to be very happy on a day like this. Ladies and gentlemen, when we graduate like this it reminds us of scholarships we had to chase so that we can finish our dream.” He added.
“Of course today as we graduate, we don’t forget the fact about challenges that we shall get out there. In the next few months, we are either employed or we are otherwise. But at CIU we lead, we, innovate, we transform. At CIU we knock doors that are closed until they open.” The confident Sisto added.
While speaking to Campus Bee shortly after graduating, Sisto revealed that he is going to concentrate on his NGO through which he is going to teach young people about Malaria, Reproductive Health, and HIV.
Sisto was among the 344 graduands that graduated during the CIU 12th graduation ceremony.
