As students still settle from the results wave and holiday break, Mbarara University of Science and Technology has kicked off semester two, however, with a very low attendance recorded today, the first day of the semester.
Despite all lecture rooms being open and so spacious, there is a scarcity of students around the compound and lecture rooms this Monday morning. It would be so easy to believe that this Mbarara based University ceased its operations due to the evident low turn up in the campus.
This is a custom that has not been happening in the previous semesters, which could be resulting from the fact that January, with all its negative energy, is still up and running. This has therefore forced students to postpone their reporting dates in anticipation of a better start, financially.
However, there are a few ‘hard’ souls being spotted in the campus compound, probably tapping WiFi. What we are not quite certain about, is if they showed up on the first day for constructive use of the WiFi or ‘banging’ chills over social media, YouTube or even movies.
The Faculty of Computing and Informatics (FCI) is reportedly having lectures ongoing no matter the number of students in the lecture rooms. We are not sure yet when the semester will fully integrate into serious study but we’ll keep you up to date with all that transpires through this Semester at this Mbarara based University.
