Muteesa Royal University guild government is in for some bum smoking as heated frustrated students hit the streets of Masaka protesting the interruption and sudden halting of this university’s beauty contest slated to take place on Saturday by the Masaka police.
The guild government that was part of the events management team had invited Ex Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi to grace the event as the guest of honour at Ambiance discotheque.
Unfortunately the police led by the districts RDC, Lenos Ngompek blocked his invitation on grounds that not only was Mbabazi’s presence at security threat to the students and general public but also his appearance at the event as more of political motivated than individual.
This too prompted Ambiance management to pull out of the whole beauty pageant deal hence denying the university avenue to host their event. The club’s manager, Henry Busulwa through a known media agency stressed out how he wouldn’t allow the university host the event at his club with Amama Mbabazi as the chief guest for he doesn’t want his club tangled up in some political scandal therein blemishing its reputation.
Ambiance pulling out as the venue host and the function halted by police, the events managers/ guild government are in for some really nasty financial losses since most of the payments of the venue, judges and gift hampers had been made in advance.
The students have been asked to stay calm for this problem will be ameliorated soon, Ambiance discotheque and the university advised to resolve this matter amicably though the police is still patrolling the streets, alert to calm any situation if rioting reanimated.
