The students of Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) have been urged to follow precautionary measures to prevent the deadly Coronavirus (COVID-19) .
The Islamic University Health Centre says students and the entire university community should know that one can get the virus through contacting with infected person’s sneeze or cough droplets.
The health centre warns the students and the university community that the Coronavirus is very dangerous and spreads very fast.
The statement issued by the health facility says some of the preventive measures as adopted from Uganda Ministry of Health (MoH) guideline include regularly washing hands with water and soap , avoiding contact with anyone with a cold or flue like symptoms.
The health centre adds that the deadly Coronavirus can also be prevented by covering the nose and the mouth when sneezing , coughing with a tissue or flexed elbow , thorough cooking od meat and eggs and avoiding unprotected contact with live wild or farm animals.
Globally, more than 4,000 people have died from the coronavirus and over 113,000 cases have been confirmed, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
About 64,000 people have recovered around the world.
According to health experts, the current coronavirus is special because it has mutated Ribonucleic Acid (RNA).
COVID-19 or Novel Corona Virus is a strain from this Coronavirus family.
This new virus according to health experts has mutated RNA that is making it unique from the other viruses in from the same family.
COVID- 19 is caused by the Coronavirus known as SARS-CoV-2 .
After the virus has entered the body it attacks the respiratory organs such as the lungs.
