The MUBS guild president Romulus Tusingwire has requested the minister and ministry of education to put into consideration the finalists who won’t be able to fully pay their tuition not only in Makerere University Business School (MUBS) but also all universities in the country.
Romulus has requested the universities to allow students to sit for their final papers without having to go through the trouble of completing tuition payment as lockdown has affected the parents’ earnings. He suggests that the students will not have to get to receive their results let alone graduate until they fully clear the tuition.
This is due to the fact that parents are currently finding it difficult to put food on the table and those who got the relief food are unable to buy charcoal.
Romulus told Campus Bee; “Now imagine the two million plus for tuition. We all agree that we didn’t call upon this virus. Therefore, the government should not let the people to pay for its negative effects. Please I am begging to the mother of the nation, have mercy for we highly appreciate the president for reconsidering all finalists but lets not make them hopeless after giving them hope. Kindly keep them hopeful by putting my request into consideration. Together we can stop and limit the number of dropouts and by reconsidering tuition and coming up with such measures, we can save many from having dead years that we do not even know how the quantity will be. Save your children.”
Romulus also notes that so many students are still stranded from their places of residence. “I would like to call upon the concerned office to reconsider them and serve them with the relief food in the due time remaining because we would not want to have students surviving the virus and only to die of hunger please,” the MUBS Guid President added.
