All the travellers who had been quarantined at Douglas Villa in Kikoni, a city suburb which is a hub of a bigger population of Makerere University students, have been released after they tested negative with a series of tests run on them.
The owner of the hostel, Mrs Nyombi Thembo first announced the release of the travellers today morning in an interview with NBS which comes hours after The Ministry of Health announced the recovery of 3 COVID-19 patients who had been quarantined in Entebbe.
“All the travellers who have been in this quarantine centre have been cleared and they are all negative. They have been tested over three times. My appeal to the community is to welcome them back to community without any discrimination as they return to their homes” said Mrs Thembo.
“We had come out to help the government by giving this facility to quarantine the travellers. We put in the facilities like mattresses, towels and bedsheets. Several well wishers helped us” she added.
However, students who reside in these hostels were questioning the move of using the hostel as a COVID-19 quarantine centre saying it was not a good idea using the same hostel with students’ properties inside and without their consent which according to them was a step taken focusing on just money alone.
