A group of defiant Makerere university students have held a parallel inauguration ceremony for outgoing Kyadondo East Legislator Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine. During their ceremony, the NUP faction declared Bobi Wine as the official president elect of the Republic of Uganda.
“We all know it was Hon. Kyagulanyi who won these elections,” Ssegujja, a student present at the parallel inauguration was heard saying.
“We will not take part in the misrule mired with corruption, conflicts, unemployment and impunity. We’ve been born under one president. We are not ready to die under him,” Another student remarked.
The parallel ceremony has come following a congratulatory post by the university’s Vice Chancellor Prof Barnabas Nawangwe who on behalf of the administration recognized Museveni as the elected President of Uganda. The University management’s affair with the state has been throwing the student fraternity in a frenzy spell.
Nawangwe’s post gathered comments from angry opposition students who claimed that it is unfair for the VC to show a side yet he leads scholars from different political parties.
