Earlier last year Kampala international university was subpoenaed to court to answer charges relating to the issuing of fake degrees in particular to the allegations in relation to the credibility of the degree it had awarded to Mombasa governor, Hassan Jobo.
Earlier this year the high court of Uganda presided over by Justice Stephen Musota acquitted Kampala international university of all charges and hence ruling Hassan’s degree as legit and authentic.
Recently the Mombosa governor was back in court over the same issue as Silas Okute a voter filed in the Kenyan High court querying the credibility of Hassan’s KIU degree. However luck was on Hassan’s side as the Kenyan high court led by a panel of three judges ruled in favour of him.
Recently while speaking to a known media agency, the KIU head of legal department threatened suing any other person who tries to linger around this same issue for defamation and damages for this issue has already been solved in court hence the university is credible and awarding out authentic degrees.
But it’s well noted that due to the university’s mediocre academic quality and luck of professional professors, the institution of higher education of Tanzania [Tanzania Commission of Universities] ordered KIU’s branch in Tanzania to stop awarding post graduate degrees – Masters and PHDs.
With this continuous scornful jocularity on the university’s degree credibility by the public all around East Africa, how’ll this university’s student compete and cope up in this highly stringent employment sector with their colleges form notable universities like Makerere, UCU and Mbarara e.t.c.
