President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has today morning held a phone conversation with the Makerere University Guild President Julius Kateregga following the university’s failure to agree with student leaders on the newly introduced tuition policy.

According to Kateregga, Museveni had been fed with false information by some elements of the university management. Kateregga has further explained that Museveni has instructed the University Council to engage with the student leadership, something they had refused to do.

“Earlier today, I held a phone conversation with President Museveni to brief him on the status quo at the Hill and on the demands of the governed. He had been fed on falsehoods by some elements of University Management.  He instructed that University Council engages the Student Leadership, which they have heeded to. In a few minutes, the student leadership will be engaging Council.” Kateregga wrote on his Facebook account.
