The Former Minority Leader of Kaduna State House of Assembly in Nigeria, Hon. Muhammad Ali has urged the students of Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) to continue being focused in their academic endeavors to be successful in life.
Ali also told the students to avoid being too ambitious saying the practice is leading to increase of corruption in Africa.
Honorable Muhammad Ali who is currently, the Kaduna State Coordinator for National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) made the remarks at IUIU Main Campus in Mbale City, Eastern Uganda.
Honorable Ali urged students to always work hard and have a clear vision of what the want in life through working hard in their studies.
The former Nigerian politician noted that most youths are involved in corrupt activities in Africa for owning things untimely.
“These days, secondary school students are already talking of an expensive car and a magnificent house they need to be using when they will grow up. Don’t be too ambitious to avoid engaging yourselves in corrupt activities to own things that you don’t deserve,” Ali said.
He urged the students to always seek permissible ways of having money that are in line with Islamic teachings.
The Rector of IUIU, Professor Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda seconded Hon. Ali’s call by urging the students to always desist from corrupt activities in their working places after leaving the institution.
Professor Gyagenda advised the students that it is against the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to dubiously own things that are not yours.
Islamic University in Uganda has several students from Nigeria who are pursuing various programs at Bachelors, Masters and Doctor of Philosophy Levels. The students are in three campuses of Islamic University in Uganda namely Main Campus in Mbale City, Kampala Campus in Kampala City and Females’ Campus in Wakiso District.
