It’s not that I enjoy writing only bad things about Islamic University In Uganda, but even the Quran makes mention, “If you see evil, talk about it……..” and besides I only give credit where necessary. How is it even possible? Why? Islamic University-Mbale campus? No, something isn’t right somewhere!
In my daily struggles of hunting for stories, someone leaked to me a story about people running out of Abubaker Mayanja and I really didn’t believe the reason so I went to see and talk to a few people myself and write about facts not hearsay. On talking to a few people. I got to learn that some people actually have no beds in this 10 billion shillings hostel.
When I asked why? a few said they preferred laying mattresses on the floor to sharing their blood with bed bugs every night, they argued that the beds hide alot of bedbugs so they disposed their beds off, whereas other people especially international students claimed they had on several occasions asked for beds from the custodian but he kept on promising tomorrow “everyday tomorrow”, a few actually added that they had been asked for money such that they’re given the beds. On hearing this I quickly looked around for the hall MP and after a long struggle I found one from “A” block and he denied these allegations but dah! We have it in photos,
My efforts to get the custodian hit a dead end as I was told he was out for the weekend and his office had been closed since Saturday.
It’ll be remembered that while addressing the students Congress, the Rector, Dr. Sengendo acknowledged that facilities have been and are still one of the challenges facing Islamic University In Uganda campuses and not only the main campus.
