Hardly a day after Kyambogo University elections petition tribunal dismissed Paul Opesen’s petition that sought to contest and challenge the whole electoral process organized by the electoral commission of the university, the former Guild presidential aspirant has filed a case against the electoral commission and the tribunal at Nakawa court.
In a telephone interview with Campus Bee this evening, a close member of Paul Opesen’s team confirmed to filing the case today at about 1:00 pm with the aid of lawyers from Lukwago and Co. Advocates seeking to challenge the outcomes of the tribunal and the whole electoral process organized by the electoral commission. “The University constitution stipulates that the ruling on the case is to be made within 24 hours after the end of the university tribunal listening to the petition, which they disrespected”, the dissatisfied Opesen diehard asserted.
In accordance to a report prepared and signed by the tribunal on 14th March, 2018, the chairperson, Mukwatiriri Sam (an advocate) in conjunction with five (5) other members that made up the Coram upheld the elections that were held on 7th March, 2018 as free and fair.
An order was therein given to the Dean of Students to swear in German Amanya as the incoming Guild president of Kyambogo University. This did not match the satisfaction of Opesen Paul hence filing the case at Nakawa court today.
