Dr Ramathan Ggoobi Graduates with PhD in Economics

Dr Ramathan Ggoobi, Permanent Secretary and Secretary to the Treasury, has achieved a major academic milestone after graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics from Nelson Mandela University in South Africa.

His graduation has drawn wide attention because Dr Ggoobi is one of the country’s most visible economic leaders. Known for his practical approach to public finance and his push for evidence-based policy, he has spent years guiding government spending, shaping reform, and promoting efficiency across ministries. Earning a PhD while carrying the weight of national responsibilities highlights the discipline and focus he is known for.

Leaders from the academic community have praised his milestone, including Prof Pauline Byakika-Kibwika, Vice Chancellor of Mbarara University of Science and Technology, who congratulated him along with the entire MUST fraternity.
