Drones are now patrolling above one of China’s most difficult exams to stop cheaters.
The National Higher Education Entrance Exam is held each year and decides which youngsters make the cut for university.
Some students try to cheat in the exam – known as gaokao – by taking photos of the questions using a special pen and sending them to someone outside.
Their accomplice can then feed back answers to a hidden earpiece.
To stop this practice, the city of Luoyang is now using drones to monitor radio activity across the area in which the exam takes place.
The drone hovers 500 metres above the test site and has a range of around 1km.
When a disturbance is detected, it can alert exam invigilators.
They can use tablet computers to control the drones and pinpoint the culprit’s exact location.
Those caught cheating are banned from taking any national exams for three years.
Cheating discovered retrospectively will see the culprit’s professional qualifications revoked.
