The Electoral Commission has turned away the youngest Presidential aspirant John Katumba for failing to show proof of payment of shs20 million nomination fees.
The 24-year-old however claimed he had come with hard cash saying that there are no banks around Kyambogo University. He was turned away and informed that he still stood a chance to be nominated tomorrow Tuesday 3rd November 2020 if he came back with proof of payment.
He did not also have a Tax Identification Number (TIN) as part of the requirements for nomination as a presidential candidate.
Katumba’s troubles started earlier when his car got a flat tyre at Spear Motors junction along Jinja Rod. He was forced to run to the nominations grounds to beat time.
So far, the Electoral Commission has duly nominated two candidates: NRM Candidate Yower Kaguta Museveni and Independent Henry Tumukunde. ANT’s Mugisha Muntu is set to be nominated at 3pm.
