The Electoral Commission has announced the continuation of the national voter register display exercise, with a special appeal to persons with disabilities, the youth, and older persons—collectively known as Special Interest Groups (SIGs)—to actively take part in the process.

According to the Commission’s spokesperson, Mr. Julius Muchunguzi, the display exercise for SIGs resumes today, 9th May 2025, and will run concurrently with the national voters register display until its conclusion on 15th May 2025.

“We call upon the public—especially persons with disabilities, the youth, and the older persons—to take advantage of this period to go to their villages and verify the information on their respective voter registers,” Muchunguzi stated. “It is important to ensure that only the rightful individuals appear on the register and to report any anomalies for correction or removal.”

The Electoral Commission emphasized that maintaining an accurate and up-to-date voters register is crucial for ensuring free, fair, and credible elections. A clean register for both the general population and the SIGs is key to this process.

Muchunguzi also reminded the public that the voter register display is taking place at all polling stations across the country, operating daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., including weekends and public holidays.

He encouraged all Ugandans, particularly local leaders and community members, to mobilize and inform others to participate in the exercise without delay. “Let us not wait until the last minute. Our staff are already stationed in villages and polling centers, ready to assist,” he said.
