Julius Kateregga, the outgoing guild president of Makerere University has nominated BET award winning singer Eddy Kenzo to take part in a hand wash challenge in a bid to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.
Kenzo, who is currently stranded in Ivory Coast has as well recorded a video in which he washes hands and later advised his fans to follow suit. The singer was forced to stay in Ivory Coast after President Museveni’s decision to close all of Uganda’s boarders as well as banning any further entry into the Pearl of Africa.
Kateregga kicked off the challenge by shooting a short video in which he demonstrated to young people on how to clean their hands. In the same video, Kateregga nominated singers Eddy Kenzo and Bobi Wine, President Museveni, Prof Barnabas Nawangwe among others.
However, it is only Eddy Kenzo who has so far publically come out to accept the challenge by recording a video showing his followers on how to keep their hands clean.
“My brother Eddy Kenzo thanks for accepting the challenge. We are looking forward to working with people like you for the safety of the generation public. Makerere University Students Guild is going to engage in a number of initiatives to safe guard the general public as we build for the future.” Kateregga posted on his Facebook.
Universities and other education institutions kicked off their 32-day closure in a bid to fight this pandemic that has claimed thousands of lives across the world.
