The former Guild President of Islamic University in Uganda ( IUIU) Shahali Mugamba has advised the students’ of Uganda’s oldest Islamic learning institution – Bugembe Islamic Institute to be determined if they want to benefit from their studies.
Mugamba made the remarks on Tuesday during an interactive meeting with the students at Islamic University in Uganda- Main Campus in Mbale City.
The 29th Guild President who is currently working as System Administrator at the same institution told the students that education is independent and needs people who are wiling to learn.
“Education is independent. Education needs you to be focused and if you cant be focused and determined, education will leave you aside and proceed with people who are willing to learn” Mugamba said.
He urged the students to work hard in both secular and Islamic studies to be complete ambassadors of Islam.
“It is good to do both secular and Islamic studies to serve the religion (Islam) well. After completing your O and A levels, come and join the Islamic University in Uganda to be refined into complete intellectuals. This is the right place for you,” he said.
Mugamba studied Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at the Islamic University in Uganda before going to do Masters in Computer Engineering at Islamic University of Technology in Bangladesh.
Bugembe Islamic Institute has produced several renowned Muslim scholars in Uganda. The Mufti of Uganda, His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje studied at the Institute. The institution was opened on 1st January, 1971 in Jinja City – Eastern Uganda.
