Eastern Muslims Regional Kadhi Sheikh Ahmad Haamid Wandega has commended the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) for producing competent graduates that are contributing to social-economic development in Eastern Uganda, Uganda and the World at large.
Sheikh Wandega made the remarks today during Eid -Al-Fitr prayers and celebrations at IUIU Main Campus in Mbale city.
According to Sheikh Wandega, IUIU graduates are complete and they know to how apply their academic skills to serve the communities well.
“Let me commend the Islamic University in Uganda for producing competent graduates that are serving our communities diligently. I want to thank the administration of IUIU for the efforts to see that the university’s graduates are well equiped with skills and character,” he said.
Sheikh Wandega also commended President Museveni for securing IUIU land in Mbale city.
“But also let us not forget what President Yoweri Museveni did to this university. The President gave IUIU land here at Main Campus in Mbale city,” he added.
Speaking at the same event, IUIU Rector Professor Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda who was represented by the Vice Rector (Finance and Administration) Professor Abdul Kaziba Mpaata assured the Muslims that IUIU is starting the Faculty of Engineering and Technology soon.
“The Faculty of Engineering and Technology will be here at the Main Campus. The designers are currently doing their work and before 2022, Insha Allah (God willing) , construction of the Faculty will begin,” Professor Gyagenda said.
Eid al-Fitr is celebrated to commemorate the end of the fasting month of Ramadan and takes place for over three days.
Eid al-Fitr means “the celebration of breaking the fast.” Ramadan marks the time when the Holy Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
Devout Muslims fast during daylight hours and spend time in self-reflection, prayer and giving charity.
