The Chief Magistrates Court in Mbarara has granted bail to Doreen Atwongyirwe, a lecturer at Bishop Stuart University, who is accused of causing grievous harm to her 16-year-old maid, Anita Kansiime.
Atwongyirwe allegedly poured hot water on Kansiime after a disagreement, leaving the young maid with serious injuries.
The lecturer was released on a cash bail of UGX 1.5 million, while her three sureties were issued non-cash bonds of UGX 10 million each.
