The Makerere Law Society (MLS) has joined the Makerere University fraternity, and the country at large to mourn the death of Emmanuel Tegu, a third year Veterinary student at Makerere University.
In their mourning message, the Law society expressed its demand for justice to be served for the fallen Emamanuel Tegu.
“As a society in Makerere intent on respect for human dignity, equality of all persons before the law and accountability, we demand that full and speedy investigations in the incident are conducted and a report issued in this respect,” says a document dated 6th July.
On addition to this, the Law society further tasked the police to make the perpetrators fully accountable and prosecuted as the law states.
The deceased, as a result of injuries, passed away on 4th July 2020 at Mulago Hospital and its alleged that he was attacked and beaten up by LDUs on the night of 28 June, 2020.
Investigations kicked off and today morning, the police through its spokesman, Fred Enanga announced that so far 10 people connected to the crime have been arrested.
