The Office of the Academic Registrar released a bombshell notice this week, ordering the students to appear before the Senate Examinations Committee on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
The dramatic hearing, set for 10 a.m. in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities Board Room, will see the accused grilled over claims of dishonesty in recent exams. Each has been instructed to collect a formal charge sheet from the Examinations Division.
The group spans multiple faculties — from Arts to Business to Education — sparking heated debate across campus. Rumours of leaked papers, impersonation and collusion have spread fast, though the Registrar’s office has not confirmed the exact allegations.
A memo to the culprits read: “The Office of the Academic Registrar hereby invites the underlisted students to appear before the Senate Examinations Committee on Tuesday, 26th August 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities Board Room.
You are further advised to collect your invitation letter and charge sheet from the Examinations Division, Block 2, Room 6.”
Punishments could be severe. Under university regulations, students found guilty of malpractice risk suspension, expulsion, or nullification of results — a devastating blow to their academic careers.
One senior lecturer told Campus Bee: “This is about protecting the credibility of our qualifications. Cheating is an attack on the entire institution.”
The crackdown comes amid growing concern about exam fraud in higher education, with critics accusing universities of “turning a blind eye” until scandals explode.
As Kyambogo braces for the high-stakes hearings, all eyes will be on the Senate committee — and whether the accused can clear their names or face academic ruin.
