In an electrifying announcement, Vision Group, Uganda’s leading multimedia company, has unveiled its latest academic extravaganza – the “Vision Group Ultimate University Quiz Challenge.” This thrilling competition, sponsored by the Bank of Uganda (BoU), promises to ignite the competitive spirit among university students and showcase their intellectual prowess on a grand stage.
The “Vision Group Ultimate University Quiz Challenge” is set to be a battle of wits like no other. With universities from across Uganda participating, it’s a platform for the brightest minds to showcase their depth of knowledge and quick thinking. The quiz challenge will encompass a wide range of topics, from history and current affairs to science, sports, and pop culture.
The Vision Group CEO, Don Wanyama explained why the Ultimate University Quiz was birthed; “In line with our mission to generate and distribute content that is useful to society, Vision Group has developed The #UltimateUniversityQuiz from a simple idea, to give students an engaging TV programme that fosters research and learning outside the academic spectrum of university courses.
The #UltimateUniversityQuiz will fill the gap and become a platform for 16 universities to battle it out for a grand prize, stimulating thinking and reading outside the academic spectrum of university courses.
Wanyama revealed that this marks the inaugural edition, with plans to expand next year, welcoming even more universities into the competition. Each university will conduct internal quizzes to identify a team that will represent them at the national level. “We’ve initiated visits to these universities to provide guidance and assist in preparing their teams for the competition. Each university will assemble a team of four students, accompanied by a coach, and they will be granted ample time for thorough preparation,” he added.
The sponsorship of this event by the Bank of Uganda underscores the institution’s commitment to education and youth development. BoU has long been recognized for its dedication to promoting financial literacy and educational excellence, and this collaboration with Vision Group further solidifies its role in nurturing young talents. The acting Bank of Uganda Governor, Michael Atingi-Ego reiterated that BoU supports the #UltimateUniversityQuiz because it aligns with our goal of demystifying central banking, financial services, and economic policy. It is also consistent with the BoU’s values of transparency and accountability, partly achieved through appropriate public communication. We believe the quiz offers an opportunity to promote public understanding of the BoU, its role, mandate, and contribution to Uganda’s socio-economic transformation. With a better appreciation of central banking, financial services, and economic policy, the public can appreciate, support, and leverage the BoU’s work.
