Running under the theme “Breast Cancer Awareness”, The Face of MUK contest 2017 was concluded on Saturday night with the 2 runners up and the winner coming from Mary Stuart hall.
The results from the judges were computed basing on the performance at the auditions, Boot Camp, Grand finale and social media likes and comments.
It’s through this that dancer Sibella Raphaela emerged as 2nd runner up, Songstress Michelle Esther Tumuhaise as the 1st runner up and Model Rebecca Nalubowa the overall winner was crowned Face of MUK’17.
The winner of Face of MUK is going to be the national breast cancer awareness ambassador and will spearhead nationwide breast cancer screening. According to the blue prints, over 5million women are to be screened, counseled and given self-examination tips.
Nalubowa is going to enjoy a fully paid trip to any country of her choice by Brussels Airlines and will have tuition for her next academic year cleared to zero balance. The top 3 are together going to enjoy a Masters Scholarship at Olson University.
The 82nd guild that organized this contest keeps its hopes high that this will restore Makerere’s fading glory.
“It’s incumbent of us to protect what we have. There is a cynical problem that Makerere is gone but this will help reposition and clear its tainted name,” said Guild president Roy Ssemboga while addressing the students.
