The Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Uganda Chapter has announced bursaries for the 2024/2025 academic year, aimed at supporting 35 young women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds in Eastern and Northern Uganda.
Funded by Social Initiatives, these bursaries are intended to help students from selected districts complete higher education, and provide academic and psychosocial support.
Applicants must:
- Be aged between 18 and 25 years.
- Have completed Ordinary Level (S.4) or Advanced Level (S.6) exams in 2021, 2022, or 2023.
- Have applied for direct entry to partner institutions for the 2024/2025 academic year.
- Be residents of specific districts: Abim, Agago, Amuria, Kween, Luuka, Napak, Namayingo, Nwoya, or Moyo.
- Meet additional criteria including academic merit and economic disadvantage.
The bursaries are categorized as follows:
- University Degree Program: 10 slots
- Diploma in Medical Courses (e.g., Orthopedic Medicine, Radiography, Nursing): 8 slots
- Certificate in Midwifery: 10 slots
- Certificate in Medical and Science Education Laboratory Technology: 7 slots
How to Apply
- Application forms are available at no cost from the Academic Registrars of partner universities: Busitema University, Gulu University, Lira University, and Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST).
- Forms can also be obtained from FAWE Uganda’s office or downloaded from FAWE Uganda’s website.
- Completed applications should be submitted to FAWE Uganda’s office by June 14, 2024.
