Ian Kafuko, the NRM Flag bearer, Kyambogo University has on Thursday night been in the Kyambogo Guild Presidential polls as Guild President 2015/2016. Ian Kafuko got 3,340 votes, Nsubuga Julius(#FDC) 2,774 was second and DP’s Proscovia Nantege got 201.
History in the making
This is the first time the NRM flag bearer is elected Guild President, Kyambogo University in the history of the second biggest public university in Uganda. Ian Kafuko is a third year student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Land Economics. His leadership dates back to last year when he was elected the Chairperson Nanziri Hall. This is where he has garnered the utmost support.
FDC supporters cry foul
Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) supporters at the Banda based campus seem not to be contented with the results. They cite a lot of irregularities in the elections. “We have gotten information that some ballot boxes were stuffed with pre-ticked ballot papers by some NRM agents. We will not allow this. We are not conceding this loss,” one of the campaign agents from the FDC camp is heard saying.
