Since 2001 Female Scholarship Foundation (FSF) has been offering scholarships to female bright but economically strained students to attain higher education at Makerere University.
However, the foundation has been limited with the number of slots given to it due to financial constraints yet there are many students that need to assisted to achieve their dreams.
This has been answered from the fruits of the FSF resource mobilization dinner that happened earlier this month which was attended by the Minister of Education and Sports, Hon Janet Kataaha Museveni, Deputy Speaker for the parliament of the republic of Uganda Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanya, Deputy VC Makerere University, FSF Alumni and other officials at Kampala Serena Hotel.
At the end of the dinner over 90 million Uganda shillings was collected in both cash and pledges, the theme of the dinner was “Drop a Coin and Change a Life.”
Basing on the outcomes of the dinner, the foundation is set to increase the number of slots from 20 to 40 in order to increase on the number of beneficiaries for the next five years. The foundation has been providing beneficiaries with tuition, but starting next academic year it is going to cater for both tuition and functional fees and this is aimed at empowering the girl child through access to university education. However, they requested various individuals, organisations and companies to join them in supporting the girl child education
