Some medical school freshers from Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) have vowed to leave their dream course as many of them thought being a doctor was about wearing a lab coat and being admired by onlookers.
Some freshers who made it to the course yesterday collapsed and fainted when they had to finally face the cadavers (dead bodies used in practicals).
The students, both boys and girls had to face it rough that particular afternoon as some thought the end of the world had come. These are humble kids fresh from high school but did the cadavers want to understand that?
One student fainted straight away and was rushed out for medical attention in the shortest possible time. Even the boys kept a distance as their female lecturer kept asking them to draw closer, but to them it had become a matter of life and death.
Three other girls were spotted packing their bags and mattresses nga Mbarara tejakusoboka. Another one was overheard saying “okushoma kwayanga, hati kanze kuhinga ebichooli”
A cadaver is a dead human body that is used by medical students, physicians and other scientists to study anatomy, identify disease sites, determine causes of death, and provide tissue to repair a defect in a living human being. Students in medical school study and dissect cadavers as a part of their education. Others who study cadavers include archaeologists and artists.
