Leaked information reaching Campus Bee indicates that a group of the outgoing Makerere 83rd guild cabinet is in final stages of launching an online campaign demanding for the immediate issuance of their leadership certificates.
According to leaked Whatsapp chats from the cabinet’s group, the current speaker’s office was allocated funds for printing and issuing of certificates for all the 83rd cabinet members but nothing has been done yet.
“We are going to start a #tag campaign of our certificates on Twitter and we tag Nawangwe and MAK in all our tweets,” one of the members posted. It is said that printing these certificates cost about shs3,000 each, something that continues to puzzle the disappointed fellows wondering why they won’t get their certificates.
It should be noted that about three weeks ago, the 84th guild cabinet headed by Were Salim was sworn in at the University’s Main Hall and at the same time the 83rd government members handed over to their predecessors.
Issuance of certificates to the outgoing cabinet members has been Makerere’s culture as a sign of recognition of student leadership and as well an endorsement for future individual political and leadership ambitions.
