The Kyambogo University former People Power guild Presidential aspirant, Mbaziira John Sr, has launched a campaign aimed at bringing an end to police and army torture of students and Ugandans at large.
Mbaziira John who, together with other guild aspirants, missed being voted for after Universities were closed in March, a few weeks to the election.
Mbaziira however did not stop at that, he continued his rants on social media where he kept calling for justice and reforms in the Education System.
Quoting Article 50 of the 1995 Uganda Constitution, Mbaziira said that the article allows any Ugandan to petition the Uganda Human Rights Commission incase of any unfair treatment from the men in Uniform. He however says that many people are not aware of their rights. He further said that it should be a struggle for all Students and all peace loving Ugandan to demand for an end to such brutality, to which he said that he will continuously spearhead it.
“As students, we are not only supposed to attain education, but to even change the communities where we live and make them better.” Mbaziira said. “We are therefore ready to demand for Justice now.”
Mbaziira was flanked by students from Makerere and Stanford University who pointed at how the army and police invaded Makerere University last year in the fees Must fall campaign where a lot of brutality was manned on the students.
Mbaziira called on all Ugandans to join him and other students in demanding an end to what he called “Regime Brutality.”
