The 82nd Guild President of Makerere University, Roy Ssemboga, who was recently appointed the Minister of Health in the Kawempe Republic, along with his President and IGP visited the detained and ill legislator of Kyandondo East Hon. Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine while at Rubaga Hospital.
The group, that included among others, the President of the ‘splinter state’ Luutu Hamidu and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Musoke Eria, visited the ill legislator before he was whisked away by Security Operatives as he attempted to go abroad to seek specialized treatment after the unfortunate incidents that ensued from the chaos in the Arua Municipality by election.
Ssemboga, who himself is nursing a broken leg, also from the incidents in Arua, limped to the legislator’s hospital bed to provide him moral support in his time of need.
Bobi Wine was visibly happy to receive the group and he thanked them for taking time off to pay him a visit. He also encouraged them to keep their spirits up because in his own words, “the struggle is just beginning”.
The Kawempe Republic was formed by urban youths in the division that decry government for ignoring their plight in the distribution of resources in the country. They are learned and educated but cannot find formal jobs to earn a living from.
In as much as they are not legally and politically recognized by the Ugandan State, they continue to operate in the shadows and also boast of having the best university in East and Central Africa within their territory.
