Makerere University’s 80th Guild President Bwowe David is on cloud nine after Court nullified the election of his Buyamba Constituency rival Amos Mandera.
Bwowe ran to Court claiming that Mandera lacked the requisite academic papers after the former lost to the latter in the February 2016 general elections.
After the Court ruling, an elated Bwowe posted on Facebook pictures of himself in a Mercedes Benz UAQ series leading a procession on a deserted road.
Analysts have however been quick to point out that Bwowe faces an uphill task – if not an imponderable one – of convincing the Buyamba electorate to vote for him in the by-election after him challenging their choice of MP – and in effect their sense of judgment.
“Buyamba-ns see Bwowe as a city boy who had hitherto chosen to keep away from them until the elections came along. According to them, it is pure insolence that motivated Bwowe to challenge the election of their preferred candidate.” quipped an analyst of the Buyamba elections.
“He has won the Court case, but has he won the hearts of the Buyamba electorate?” our analyst added
