It’s a sad moment as Prof Foster Byarugaba, a former Makerere University political science lecturer dies of unclear illness. Byarugaba lectured at Makerere University for over two decades before his retirement alongside other legendary Professors like Prof Akiiki Mujaju, Prof Mahmood Mamdani and Prof Ali Mazrui.

Before his death, the former Makerere lecturer had retreated into a private consultant. Prof Byarugaba is also remembered as a staunch NRM supporter who never hid his support for the ruling party despite his fellow political scientists’ criticism towards the yellow camp.

Prof Byarugaba is remembered as one of the most intelligent lecturers of his time who had a unique sense of humor most especially during his lecture sessions. The deceased Professor is rembered for his famous joke where he was quoted saying “Imagine you are in a house alone or in your case, you are in a room in the hall of residence like Mitchell Hall alone. You have no roommate. You can choose to walk around naked completely pacing from one end of the room to another with everything swinging”.

Prof Byarugaba will be laid to rest on Friday 18th May at his ancestral home in Kagadi district, Mugalike village.
